Silk Paintings
Silk painting—the practice of applying dyes or pigments directly onto silk fabric—is an ancient art form with deep roots in Asia. Its earliest known development can be traced to India around the second century CE, where silk production and textile decoration were closely linked to cultural, religious, and ceremonial traditions.
My work in silk painting investigates the relationship between nature, memory, and transformation. Using my own photographs of natural environments, I digitally manipulate the images into abstract forms before transferring them onto silk. This process allows me to move between observation and intuition, technology and handcraft.
